On this Sri Rama Navami 2026, thought to pay homage to Jatayu, the great bird 🦅 Jatayu reminds us that leadership is not always about victory the way we understand ‘what and how’ victory looks like.
In extreme cases we appear to lose - yet it is in short term, only to live for eternity.
Sometimes, it is about the courage to stand up for what is right - even when the odds are impossible.
Thus, the lesson we get here is: not always death is the result for standing up for Dharma but ‘death of cowardice’ for sure.

In late 2010’s at one of the assignments, i had to quit as a specific agreement was not honoured. But that decision ushered in windfall for those who stayed back; they continue to express gratitude.
In the Ramayana, Jatayu does not prevail in battle but he does something far greater to strengthen the war:
He acts. He acts courageous.
He rises to protect, resists injustice, and gives everything he has for a cause greater than himself.
That is the quiet power of Dharma.
Not every noble act ends in success, but leaves a mark, and sets the platform for ultimate success.
Coming back to my case, staying back in that assignment, the earnings would have been more than what Shrimath Yoga makes today but as a team the freedom, inner strength and the satisfaction we have now is immeasurable.
Felt that Jatayu’s sacrifice speaks to leaders, coaches, and seekers alike:
- Stand for truth, even when it is costly
- Serve beyond your own capacity
- Measure yourself not only by outcomes, but by courage ie Dharma
Some lives win by conquering but others win by refusing to surrender what is right.
Jatayu belongs to the second kind.
